"i swear i am 100% chinese"

do i look like this guy? his name is Carl Quintanilla.  he is a news anchor on msnbc.  but what i don't understand is he is not even asian!!! his last name is QUINTANILLA, for christ's sake.  do i not look asian to other people? the worst part is this is not the first time that somebody has said something to me about it.  my coworkers all think i look like him.  and this other guy thought i was a quarter italian.  in college, a few people thought i was mix.

i really don't understand.  i am very perplexed by all this.  to me, i look 100% asian.  i mean, i am a frigging fob! (and proud to be one) unlike my roommate, who takes pride in being called a twinkie, i don't like it when people say i'm white-washed... because i am not! i love chinatown food! i love dimsum.  i love my chicken fried rice and beef with broccoli.

what is it about me that people tend to think i am not full asian???

"one year later"

it has been a whole since i last updated in my xanga.  how scary is that? a whole year flew by yet it didn't seem like it was that long.  i'm now a year older, yet am not a year wiser.  hopefully, this trend will be different when i update again in another year.

i never thought i would agree with my parents that time flies.  but as much as i hate to admit that they are right, time has been flying faster and faster.  i graduated from college in 2003 and it is now 2008.  it has been 5 years.  i could have graduated from undergrad a second time and still have some time left over to squander away.  all this time, i do not feel like i have accomplished much in these 5 years.  i moved around quite a few times through a couple states.  moved from san fran to columbus to new york city.  i begrudgingly wake up each morning and get ready for work.  the only place where time passes slowly as if it is trying to mock me is while i'm at work.  evenutally i get out of work and go home, with a few happy hours stuck in between days.  but generally, my life is routined.  no more phone calls about playing basketball at ccrb at 9pm.  long gone are the midnight beer runs to kroger. (or 6:30am beer run with you know who you are!) faded memory of weary eyes and sleep-deprived faces of my fellow commarads walking in and out of ugli.

i don't really know what this post is saying.  i guess i am just in a rut.  i need to do something about it, but this routine is safe.  this routine is comfortable.  this routine is what i know.  breaking out of it will be hard.  but it is something that i need.

i probably won't be making late night beer runs or walking out of ugli any time soon.  but i might make a few calls tonight to see if people will want to play basketball.  but the question is who will i call?

i will see you all again in another year.

"baby stroller"

has anyone heard of "bugaboo baby strollers"?

apparently these are the cream of the crop, the ferrari of baby strollers.  and each of these stroller will cost you at least $800! yes, you read that correctly.  EIGHT-ZERO-ZERO.

people must be out of their damn minds.  what possess anyone to spend 800 dollars on a baby stroller, which the baby will use for.... 2-3 years?!? plus, as soon as my baby can stand and walk, he/she can walk his/her baby behind anywhere he/she wishes.  i am not pushing them around in an 800 dollar stroller because they are lazy or tired.  shoot, i be tired from pushing them around.

i'm sure you must be wondering why i'm talking about baby strollers, and it is NOT because there's a little dave coming into the world, but it's because my boss was talking about this early this morning.  he and his wife are expecting their first kid in early may.  (man, he will not be sleeping well for a long, long time!!!) he thinks his wife will be doing all the work... how wrong is he! i mean, i'm not going to pretend i know that much about pregenancy or anything baby/infant/children-related, but i do know that pregnant women suffer from multiple personalities disorder.  one minute they could be calm and collected, and the next they will be threatening your life with whatever they got in their hands.  the best part of this for the ladies is that they will never EVER be held responsible for any actions taken during this period of time.  they could technically beat the husbands senselessly with a baseball bat then smear salt all over their bodies and top it all off with boiling hot water, and the ladies will still be forgiven.  i mean... COME ON! i don't think men will ever get this type of treatment under any circumstances.

alrite, so it's a bit slow here today at work... haha... anyway, it's been fun updatin xanga.  i'll write something else in about another year or so.
